MythTV is listed as an approved app on the SchedulesDirect website: http://www.schedulesdirect.org/approvedsoftware
EEP is not listed there, and thus can't be used with SD.

I asked them to approve EEP, but they replied then even if it's open-source, it's used to add EPG data in a commercial product (EyeTV), and as such, can't be allowed to use SD data.

Then how does MythTV use it?

With MythTV the process is that they provide the software and you provide the account (which you pay a small amount for).

Why wouldn't that work for this project?
Frankly I wouldn't buy EyeTV again because of this issue, but I should be able to use a services like Schedules Direct :)

While Schedules Direct offers the same data Zap2It offered in the past, their license prevents me from using their data in EEP (they told me so directly when I asked them about it when they launched). That being said, since EEP is open-source, there's nothing stopping you from doing whatever you'd like at home.

Hi Etienne,
EyeTV EPG Proxy was the software I released to access Zap2It data, and it's available at http://eep.pommepause.com/

Sadly, since Zap2It discontinued their service, there is now no way to get EPG in EyeTV in Canada (EyeTV EPG Proxy doesn'T work for Canadians anymore).

Sorry.
