TouchTunes Digital Jukebox
TouchTunes creates digital jukeboxes (read: a computer in a big case with rainbow lights) used mainly in the US, in bars, restaurants, etc. People put money in the jukebox, and then choose songs using the touchscreen interface.
I'm doing web developments for TouchTunes since May 2005. I'm in charge of pretty much all new web application developed at TouchTunes.
One of those is the administration interface for our jukeboxes. It allows bar owners or operators (the guys who buy jukeboxes and lease them to bars) to control pretty much anything about their jukeboxes, like changing the music content, changing settings, etc.
There's also myTouchTunes, a website where users can browse our music catalog, create playlists, and (soon) find TouchTunes jukeboxes. The newest jukeboxes (Gen 3) are able to integrate with myTouchTunes, so you can browse your own and other's playlists using the jukebox.
Make sure you Share your playlists to have a chance to appear in publicly available playlists on thousands of jukeboxes in Canada or the US.
Past jobs
Olympia-ASD
I worked there for almost a year. I was working daily with two friends, Maxime and Olivier, whom I met at the university where we got our degree in Computer Engineering (Polytechnique in Montréal).
We developed a framework to build insurance web applications using XML, Tomcat, J2EE, etc. We were pretty successful until the company who paid our salary (we were contracted by a bigger company, Milliman in PA) decided to cut all funding and outsource what was left in India.
Was very fun while it lasted.
Marigny Internet Solutions
SMB in Montréal that does metrics on the web; counters on web pages, emails, interactive CD-ROM, etc.
From what I heard, they are now pretty much dead. The only news that appeared on their website since I left in may 2004 is dated 2004-11-18.
While I was there, I maintained and developed some new features on D-Stats, their main product.
I also coded a new application to track emails, using PHP and MySQL.
I was the first and last line of support for all our customers, and I didn't like that at all.
